EPA Updates

Sometime in the next few months, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be sending out surveys to gas transmission pipelines, compressor stations, and underground gas storage sites. These surveys will request information regarding leak detection programs, natural gas equipment, and blowdowns at selected sites. EPA is only mailing surveys to a representative sample of facilities, so not every site will get a survey and some large pipelines may get multiple surveys. Companies that get a survey will be required by law to complete the survey and submit the information back to EPA using their online portal. Since the EPA has already developed these surveys, it is expected that EPA will mail out the surveys to collect the required information, even though the incoming new administration may or may not allow EPA to develop any further methane rules or regulations.

More information about these surveys is available online at the EPA website: http://www.epa.gov/controlling-air-pollution-oil-and-natural-gas-industry/oil-and-gas-industry-information-requests
