October prompt month natural gas price is up 21 cents to $2.98 per MMBtu this week (8%), despite the fact that Hurricane Florence was supposed to be a somewhat bearish event by wiping out electricity demand. Gas this year has accounted for 15% of electricity in South Carolina and 30% in North Carolina. Nearly 1 million people lost power.
