JOB OPENING: Service Supervisor, Natural Gas Operations- The Energy Cooperative/Newark, OH

The Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Newark, Ohio, serves over 60,000 electric, gas and propane members in 11 counties throughout central and southern Ohio.  As a non-profit cooperative, we are member-owned and controlled by the members we serve.  We are committed to serving our members safe, high quality energy services at a reasonable price.

We are currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Service Supervisor for our natural gas operation.  The Service Supervisor reports to the Gas Utility Manager and is responsible for the general direction of the employees engaged in service operations of the natural gas utility.  Some of the job duties of this position include: responding to emergency situations; ensuring that employees are working safely; keeping abreast of safety and environmental developments as they relate to the natural gas industry; identifying and eliminating conditions that could result in accidents and financial losses; working closely with the member services department personnel to ensure that member requests are handled promptly and efficiently; coordinating and scheduling line locating; performing incident investigations dealing with carbon monoxide, leaks and equipment failures; and, developing and managing operator qualification and integrity management programs.

Associate’s degree in a related field, 7-10 years supervisory experience in the natural gas operations industry, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.   Valid Ohio driver’s license.  Knowledge of current Federal Department of Transportation / Public Utilities Commission of Ohio legislation, regulations and requirements as they relate to the natural gas business.  Thorough knowledge of the interpretation and application of the National Fuel Gas Code.  Thorough understanding of the cause and effect of natural gas related issues, fluid dynamics and phase behavior.  Proficient in the application of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.  Participates in the on call schedule and must be available to work during non-working hours which includes being on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Must live within a reasonable distance of the service territory in order to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
