Jim Mehring, vice president, gas operations, has decided to retire from Duke Energy after 37 years of service.

Official Notice from Duke Energy:

Jim has served in a variety of roles at Duke Energy and our predecessor companies, starting out as a lineman apprentice in 1977. He has held numerous leadership roles in the field operations organization directing line construction and maintenance, substation construction and maintenance, electrical system operations, safety and engineering.

As vice president of gas operations, Jim has served our 500,000 gas customers in Ohio and Kentucky with excellence. Jim led our Safety Council of Excellence for Regulated Utilities Operations. He is passionate about safety and his gas operations team just celebrated 1.4 years of injury free work.

Jim has also served as a member of the board of directors and executive committee of the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is a member of the board of trustees and executive committee for the Ohio Gas Association and serves on the Operating Management Committee for the American Gas Association.

His contributions to our company have been invaluable, and he will be missed.
